Four Manchester United stars nominated for Fans’ Footballer of the Year 2022 award

It’s that time of the year again as four Manchester United players have been nominated for the Mirror’s Fans’ Footballer of the Year award.

The question is simple for us fans who are expected to vote for this year’s winner. Who has made the biggest impact in 2022?

Manchester United’s nominees include two new signings which tells you just how quick they’ve been able to cast an influence over the side.

Reds can vote for the following players here: Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez, David de Gea and Christian Eriksen.

Stretty News verdict

I don’t think Diogo Dalot pulled up trees during the second half of last season when he got more game time under Ralf Rangnick. It was a popular view among fans that United desperately needed to sign a top class right-back, but he has since become our most improved player this season. Dalot has become defensively dependable and deserves to be in the running for the award.

Meanwhile, Christian Eriksen has shown why United were right to sign him on a Bosman during the summer, and David de Gea has been crucial behind the back four.

My vote will be going to Lisandro Martinez because of how he has not only improved our team defensively, but I think he has instilled a much better attitude in the dressing room. He even has Dalot celebrating well-timed tackles. I’d also argue that Martinez has been the best centre-back in the Premier League this season.
