Aston Villa emerge as shock contenders to sign Manchester United linked Joao Felix

Atletico Madrid are trying to sell Joao Felix in January and Manchester United are one of the clubs being linked with a move for the Portuguese forward.

It helps Atletico Madrid — in their quest to sell Felix — that he is enjoying an impressive World Cup, with Portugal reaching the quarter-finals.

Felix joined Atletico Madrid back in 2019 and has struggled to fulfil his potential in Spain. To make matters worse, he has only started five matches under Diego Simeone this season.

This has opened the door to a midseason exit and Marca claim Aston Villa are leading the race for Felix, despite interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

The report suggests that talks are underway between Villa and Atletico, but you’d imagine it would be difficult for them to agree personal terms with the player. The Premier League side are currently 12th in the league table and it would be a huge step down for his career.

I would be shocked if Villa could meet Felix’s demands as well as pay the required transfer fee it would take to sign the Portuguese star.
