Manchester United legend Roy Keane has praised Casemiro after his impressive World Cup performances for Brazil.
The Manchester United midfielder has been excellent at the World Cup so far — like we all knew he would — and Brazil remain favourites to go all the way this winter.
Speaking to ITV (via The Sun), Keane said: “I think he’s a brilliant player. You give him credit, he turns up every week, you know what you’re going to get which is a huge compliment to a player.
“He turns up every week. He’s six foot, won the big prizes, gone to United, settled in very well. Labelled a couple years ago unfairly that he’s a sitting midfielder, he’s far from it.
“He links up play, already got a goal in the World Cup, he’s brilliant but he turns up and has a great attitude.”
You can tell by how he plays the game that Casemiro has admirers like Keane, who slammed Brazil for their celebrations last night. The Irishman said their dancing after each goal was disrespectful towards their round of 16 opponents South Korea.
However, Casemiro is in Keane’s good books and his analysis is spot on.
For United and Brazil, you know you are going get 100 per cent from Casemiro every time he plays. He’s a constant presence in the middle of the pitch and I’d argue he’s the best defensive midfielder in the world right now.
A shrewd bit of business from United to sign him in the summer.
Brazil could go all the way this winter leaving United with four World Cup winners in the squad, if you include loanee Alex Telles, who will miss the rest of the tournament due to injury.
