Manchester United target to cost £70m as Brighton name price for midfield ace

Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo won’t come cheap if Manchester United decide to pursue a deal to sign the Ecuador star.

Manchester United have tracked Caicedo for some time, so you can imagine that they would be interested in the player after seeing him settle so quickly as a Premier League player. We missed out on a chance to sign him two years ago when he joined Brighton for a mere £3.6 million from Independiente del Valle.

Now, according to The Sun, Brighton want between £60-70 million to prise Caicedo away from the south coast.

This should come as another blow to United’s recruitment team because it has proven costly to pass on Caicedo, even though he was joining Brighton at a low cost.

Meanwhile, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Brighton are not looking to let United target Caicedo leave the club in January.

Roberto De Zebra’s side will not allow the midfielder to leave the Amex until the summer at the very earliest with Liverpool also interested in his signature.

“Caicedo is not expected to leave in January, the situation is still the same. Liverpool, Man United but also other clubs are monitoring him; he’s been on Manchester United’s list for years but then nothing happened. I’m sure Brighton will try to keep him at least until June,” Romano told Caught Offside.

At a time Man City and Liverpool are set to battle it out with other European clubs for Jude Bellingham, Caicedo may be an alternative despite being a completely different type of midfielder.
