Disappointment for Facundo Pellistri as Uruguay crash out of World Cup

Facundo Pellistri was left disappointed as Uruguay failed to reach to knockouts, despite beating Ghana 2-0 in their final group stage match.

Ghana missed a penalty before Uruguay went two goals ahead thanks to Arrascaeta. They looked set to go through to the last 16, but a late strike from South Korea saw them beat Portugal 2-1 to book their place in the knockout stages.

Manchester United winger Pellistri played 66 minutes before being replaced by Nicolas De La Cruz. He would have gained a lot of experience from the World Cup and it remains to be seen if he will be sent on loan in January.

The Uruguayan has yet to play a minute of competitive football for United which is something we’d like to see change in the new year unless he gets a loan move.

Elsewhere, Diogo Dalot start for Portugal against South Korea. The right-back assisted the opening goal for his country with a brilliant cross.

Portugal won’t know who they will be facing in the last 16 until later tonight. It remains to be seen if Dalot will keep his place in the starting line-up.
