Declan Rice lauds Marcus Rashford’s goalscoring ability and rates his Golden Boot chances

Declan Rice was full of praise for his England teammate Marcus Rashford.

The Manchester United forward is making a name for himself on the world stage with his standout performances for the Three Lions, and making United fans even more excited for him to return to Old Trafford with the form he’s in.

The 25-year-old has already been outstanding for the Red Devils this season; he recently netted his 100th United goal and has contributed eight goals and three assists for his club this season.

In the World Cup, Rashford is currently the joint-top goalscorer with three goals in the tournament. His first was after only 49 seconds on the pitch, his second was an exceptional free kick and his third displayed his skilful buildup play to secure a brace and England’s qualification to the Round of 16.

The West Ham midfielder has started all three of England’s opening matches in Qatar and was complimentary of his fellow Englishman. He said (via Football Daily): “From the first time I come into the England set-up I said Marcus is one of the standout people I was so surprised by. He’s just lightning quick, his speed, his eye for goal, the way he hits a ball – it’s really special, the technique he’s got.

“I know he had a tough year last year but no one ever doubted his quality, and to now see him back on the biggest stage doing it, it makes me really happy and I know it’s making the team happy as well.

“The Golden Boot, there’s no reason why he can’t. He had a big chance in the first half, I think if he keeps making them attacking runs behind the backline like he does for United, he’s going to keep getting the chances. It would be amazing for him to win the Golden Boot, I’d be delighted for him if he achieved that.”
