Talks expected to accelerate between Jeremie Frimpong and Manchester United

Manchester United appear to have sped up their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.

According to Sky Sports Germany, a summer move to Old Trafford is becoming increasingly likely for the youngster, who is currently in Qatar with the Netherlands squad.

The report also states Frimpong is aware of United’s interest and is open to making the switch. Sky adds that “talks should accelerate” following the World Cup and that Leverkusen are already seeking a replacement for the 21-year-old.

Frimpong would bolster defensive options

The Red Devils currently rely on Diogo Dalot to operate the right-back role and he has started all-but-one match this season, with left-back Tyrell Malacia switching across the pitch to take a shift during Dalot’s suspension.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is another option to fill in for the Portuguese, but Erik ten Hag looks set to let him depart in the winter transfer window, after making just one appearance since he took charge.
