Manchester United have been linked with a move for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo for a long time.

We can recall speculation about a move before he joined Brighton from Independiente del Valle in 2021 and it sounds like he is still firmly on the club’s radar.

Caicedo has proven to be a terrific signing for Brighton but it begs the question: why United didn’t sign him earlier? Now they will have to pay a premium fee since he has established himself in the Premier League.

It’s also important to add that Caicedo was not an unknown quality before his move to England, after already establishing himself as an international footballer.

Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg claims United are planning to enter the race for Caicedo – joining rivals Liverpool in the process, although Brighton hope to keep the player beyond 2023.

The German reporter also claims that Liverpool are interested in a move for the 21-year-old, while the Scousers eye a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

We at Stretty News would be shocked if Brighton didn’t put a big price on Caicedo’s head and it’s too early to predict how much money Erik ten Hag will have to spend next summer. A lot could depend on the club being up for sale.

There is no denying that he would be a brilliant signing for United!
