Manchester United duo start in Group D clash between France vs Denmark

France know a win will see them secure a spot in the last 16 when they take on Denmark in Group D at the World Cup.

A win for Denmark would see them increase their chances of coming second in the group.

Both teams have a Manchester United player in their starting XIs as Raphael Varane faces his teammate Christian Eriksen.

France XI: Lloris; Kounde, Varane, Upamecano, Hernandez; Tchouameni, Rabiot; Dembele, Griezmann, Mbappe; Giroud.

Denmark XI: Schmeichel; Nilsson, Christensen, Andersen; Eriksen, Højbjerg, Kristensen, Pedersen; Damsgaard, Lindstrom; Cornelius.

For Denmark, a country of six million people, are coming off stellar performances at Euro 2020 and the Nations League.

France boast the historical advantage – winning eight of their past 16 matches against Denmark — with two games ending as draws. However, the Danes have beaten the French on six occasions and they will be hoping to make it seven in Qatar.

United fans will be watching on the game hoping Varane can return from injury without any setbacks. The same will obviously apply to Christian Eriksen and our other players at the tournament because we’ll need everyone fit when the Premier League resumes.
