It sounds like Rio Ferdinand was right when he warned Manchester United fans not to get excited about speculation linking the club with Jude Bellingham.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is being pursued by some of the biggest clubs in Europe and we’ve already been snubbed by him in the past.
Now, according to Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have a very little chance of signing the 19-year-old midfielder who could cost somewhere in the region of €150 million.
X News #Bellingham: Been told that #MUFC hardly has a chance anymore. Triple fight: Liverpool, City, Real! #LFC & Klopp pushing! But not at any price due to FFP. Price: Up to €150m! The journalist adds that Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid are chasing Bellingham’s signature and many pundits seem to think he is destined to return to the Premier League.
It doesn’t look like he will be returning to England for United, though. Plus we need to invest significantly in other areas of the team – not just midfield.
United spent over 100 days chasing Barcelona midfielder Frankie de Jong last summer. Hopefully, the board takes note from that episode, and quickly turn their attention to other midfield targets.
Bellingham has been in impressive form for both Dortmund and England this year. He’s only going to get better.
