Atletico Madrid star searching for new club amid Man United links

Manchester United are light in the forward department following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this week, with Anthony Martial now being the only recognised forward at the club.

United were said to be keen on signing a striker during Erik ten Hag’s first summer transfer window but other areas were prioritised, leaving little room economically for a striker.

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix, who scored for Portugal in their opening group game against Ghana earlier this week, is believed to be a player of interest to the Old Trafford club.

According to Spanish publication Marca, there has now been a big development in his future at Wanda Metropolitano. As per the report, Felix is now searching for a new club after making his mind up and asking to leave the Spanish capital.

Furthermore, it’s claimed that Felix’s departure from Atletico Madrid could be accelerated if the 23-year-old continues to impress in the World Cup.

In the report, it is suggested that Felix’s relationship with manager Diego Simeone has ‘exploded’ and that the only option is for the former Benfica star to leave, with his entourage now trying to facilitate a deal.

United are named as one of many possible destinations for Felix, with Marca stating that the Reds’ links to Jorge Mendes, Felix’s agent, could work in their favour.

Bayer Munich, who reportedly had a bid rejected last summer, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are also named as clubs Felix could join in January.
