Manchester United in the market for new striker in January

Manchester United will try and sign a striker in the January transfer window following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who has confirmed the club’s intentions to sign a forward were initially set for the summer but have been brought forward to replace the Portugal captain.

The 37-year-old has had his contract terminated via a mutual agreement with United after his bombshell interview last week all but confirmed his desire to find a new club.

United must bolster attacking options

A new centre-forward is crucial to ensure Erik ten Hag is not left relying on Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial for the second half of the season, especially given the latter’s injury record.

The Reds have been in positive form heading into the prolonged international break and backing Ten Hag in the transfer market is the only way this can continue and United can have a chance at a successful campaign.
