Barcelona are reportedly interested in a move for David de Gea.
According to Calciomercato, the La Liga giants are considering the United goalkeeper next summer if Marc-Andre ter Stegen leaves the club.
De Gea has one year left on his contract at Old Trafford, although United have an option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.
The Spaniard is currently the highest paid keeper in the world and that will need to change when he puts pen to paper over a new deal — at United or elsewhere. He has spent a long time at United but I don’t think he should be getting any loyalty bonuses.
United need to improve on the pitch but the club’s wage structure also needs a lot of work. That needs to be part of the decision-making process when Erik ten Hag and John Murtough meet to discuss De Gea’s future at the club.
De Gea has kept his place as first choice keeper and that could persuade Ten Hag to keep things as they are.
