Fabrizio Romano doesn’t believe Real Madrid will offer Cristiano Ronaldo an escape route

Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with a shock return to Real Madrid amid his explosive interview with Piers Morgan which has put his Manchester United future in further jeopardy.

Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano insists he is not aware of Ronaldo being offered to Real Madrid, however, in a new turn of events.

The 37-year-old has struggled for form this season at Manchester United and it is no wonder that Erik ten Hag appears to be in favour of building his attack without Ronaldo.

Now it seems inevitable that he will be shown the door at Old Trafford.

Romano is not convinced that a return to Real Madrid is on the cards right now, with Los Blancos not looking likely to make any signings in January, despite an injury keeping Karim Benzema out of the France World Cup squad.

“I’ve seen reports from the Spanish press about Cristiano Ronaldo being offered to Real Madrid,” Romano told Caught Offside.

“I’ll be looking into this, but at the moment I don’t have this information about Ronaldo and Real Madrid, while Carlo Ancelotti has also stated many times that they’re not going sign players in January.

“At the moment, there are no negotiations ongoing – we will see.”

As a United fan, I just want this situation solved as soon as possible. We can’t let it drag on because it only fuels further commentary after Ronaldo’s mother shared a post suggesting Ronaldo should tell Ten Hag to ‘f*** off*.’

How classy.
