Manchester United trying to solve Cristiano Ronaldo situation by next week

Manchester United are working hard to come to a conclusion on Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at the club.

According to reliable transfer news specialist Fabrizio Romano via Caught Offside, Manchester United will try to clarify the situation with Ronaldo by next week.

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently preparing for his fifth World Cup with Portugal but he can only blame himself for shifting the spotlight on himself once again. That’s exactly what he wanted even if it comes at his country’s expense as a distraction during the tournament, which is incredibly likely to be his last chance at winning a World Cup.

The Italian journalist also suggests that things are pointing towards the 37-year-old being axed by the club, which has already been reported by multiple outlets since the explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

Romano wrote: “Manchester United are still discussing internally with their legal team to understand the best solution. Sources guarantee that Man Utd don’t want Cristiano to be part of first team group at Carrington after the World Cup, the message is clear; the club will try to clarify the situation by next week,” Romano explained.

“Ronaldo has always been professional in training, he had no problems with ten Hag until Man City and Tottenham games; the interview surprised both Ten Hag and some players because of the timing.

“The signs of trouble were there in the summer of course as he wanted to leave, we know… but there was no right proposal.”

While it is very disappointing to see how things are about to end for Ronaldo at United, we must always remember that no-one is bigger than the club. Big players have come and gone in the past and it’s always been a cycle.

It remains to be seen if Ronaldo will get the move he wants in January, but it sounds like he already has an invitation from the A-League…

Nobody should be losing sleep over Ronaldo. We’ve all accepted this season that his influence is waning and Ten Hag wants to move. United must back the manager, who Ronaldo says he doesn’t respect.
