Fabrizio Romano drops huge Man United contract update as club is confident of renewal

Alejandro Garnacho is the flavour of the month at Manchester United but the young winger’s future is far from certain despite his spectacular breakthrough over the last couple of weeks.

Garnacho was used sparingly by Erik ten Hag at last summer’s tour of Thailand and Australia but has now broken into the first team, winning the Player of the Month award for November.

His exploits in the eleventh month included winners at Real Sociedad and Fulham, as well as two perfect assists against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.

The fearless Argentinian attacker has left a strong impression on supporters but he is out of contract at the end of this season and is free to speak with foreign clubs over a pre-agreement as soon as in January.

Tying him down a new contract should be one of United’s priorities and now, journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has dropped a huge update.

As per Romano, the Old Trafford club are confident of sealing Garnacho’s renewal soon, with negotiations in progress after an opening proposal was made earlier this year.

It’s claimed that United want the 18-year-old to be an important player not only for the future but also the present.

SN’s verdict…
Garnacho’s introduction to the senior side has been like a breath of fresh air and it couldn’t have come at a better time for Ten Hag, who had his hands tied following injuries to both Jadon Sancho and Antony.

The winter break will allow Ten Hag to work on specifics with Garnacho and when club football resumes next month, it’s highly likely that Garnacho will feature regularly.

Losing him on a free transfer next year would be disastrous but Romano’s update is highly encouraging. Hopefully, the fresh terms can be finalised sooner rather than later.
