Cristiano Ronaldo won’t be returning to Real Madrid in January

Cristiano Ronaldo did all he could to put a stain on his Manchester United legacy with his recent interview. It has put his future at the club in jeopardy and I don’t think there is a way back for the Portuguese superstar at Old Trafford and he will be looking for a new club in January.

In fact, Ronaldo could be looking for a new club sooner than that, as soon as Portugal’s World Cup campaign ends, if United decide to terminate his contract.

There have been some rumours that this could lead to a blockbuster return to Real Madrid, but we never really saw the reasons why the La Liga giants would do that when Karim Benzema is already the main man. Not only the main man at Real Madrid, but in world football after winning the Ballon d’Or this year.

Ronaldo’s legacy remains untouched at Real Madrid but why go back there and let him ruin it, even if it’s only for six months, as offered to Los Blancos via Sport. He won the Ballon d’Or four times – out of his five – as a Real Madrid player as they got his best years after seeing him blossom at Old Trafford.

It’s not hard to see why the fans at the Santiago Bernabeu would want him back because many of us did, but it would make little sense, however, Spanish journalist José Félix Díaz claims neither Ronaldo or any striker will be joining Real Madrid in January.

He may have a good relationship with Carlo Ancelotti, but that is unlikely to save him now.
