Cristiano Ronaldo could make shock Real Madrid return

Cristiano Ronaldo is almost certain to leave Manchester United this winter after the Portuguese forward’s controversial interview with TalkTV host Piers Morgan.

In the 90-minute session, Ronaldo was heavily critical of the club and manager Erik ten Hag, who has sanctioned the striker on more than one occasion since he took charge earlier this year.

Ronaldo has become an afterthought under the Dutchman and the player is now running the risk of having his contract terminated. Some would argue that was his intention all along.

He was, however, short of options this summer after he asked the club to leave. Should he become a free agent this winter, he will have the pick of interested parties as club-to-club negotiations will not be necessary.

In a shocking twist, it’s now being reported that Ronaldo could seal a sensational return to Real Madrid, where he spent the best nine years of his career.

That’s according to Spanish outlet Sport, who say that Ronaldo is certain to leave United this winter following the interview and he has now been offered to the Spanish giants on a short-term deal.

As per the report, Ronaldo’s representatives have presented the deal to Real Madrid due to the ‘alarming’ state of Karim Benzema’s fitness, who was recently ruled out of this year’s World Cup with a new injury.

It’s claimed that Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is trying to find a solution that ends the 37-year-old’s marriage with United in an amicable way.

The player’s preference seems to be a return to Madrid but up until this point, Los Blancos have not shown any interest. Benzema’s injury could change the landscape.
