How much publicity can Cristiano Ronaldo handle in one week?
From doing an explosive interview with Piers Morgan to get the world talking about his Manchester United future, Ronaldo has since revealed his first ever NFT collection as well as doing a joint promotion with Lionel Messi for Louis Vuitton.
For someone who came across extremely self-centred in the interview on TalkTV, it shouldn’t surprise us that Ronaldo can’t get enough of publicity – and will hope the World Cup brings him even more. The 37-year-old is embarking on his fifth World Cup campaign for Portugal and it’s likely to be his last.
This all begs the question — how much promotion can one man fit in ahead of a World Cup? If he’s not pretending to play chess with Messi, Ronaldo is receiving an ego massage from Morgan. I know what I’d prefer but I reckon the Argentine would rather spend his time doing something else.
Louis Vuitton does the impossible…
When have we ever seen Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in a non-footballing settling? Never.
Louis Vuitton has done exactly that — getting the two greatest footballers of our generation to play a game off the pitch … doing so with a quiet game of chess.
Ronaldo and Messi are both featured in a new promotion campaign that launched on Saturday. It shows a photo of the two footballing icons playing chess on top of a Louis Vuitton suitcase, using the signature squares as spaces for their pieces.
The company described the collaboration as “Victory is a State of Mind”.

They will both be getting ready for the World Cup now and it would be fascinating to see Portugal take on Argentina at some stage.
Unfortunately for Ronaldo, I can see Argentina winning the World Cup this year.
