Alejandro Garnacho is enjoying a breathtaking rise to stardom at Manchester United and now, he could be rewarded with a bumper new deal at the Old Trafford club.

Garnacho made his first-team debut for the club last season, with Ralf Rangnick offering him a cameo against Chelsea in the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

The expectation was that he would be given the chance to impress further in pre-season under Erik ten Hag but the winger did not start any game in their tour of Thailand and Australia.

His involvement this season has also largely been minimal until the last month, where his efforts have earned him the Player of the Month award for November.

Garnacho’s dazzling displays in the eleventh month included two goals – winners away to Real Sociedad and Fulham – and two assists against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.

Now, with his contract set to expire at the end of this season, it is being reported that he will be rewarded for his fine form with fresh terms.

That’s according to the Daily Star, who say that Garnacho’s salary will increase ten-fold as he is set to cash in a whopping £50,000 per week.

As per the report, negotiations over a new contract are underway with Garnacho’s representatives and there is hope that talks can be concluded before the year is out.

United are said to be keen on tying the 18-year-old down to a long-term deal amid his sparkling form and supporters will be delighted to hear that progress is being made.

SN’s verdict…
Garnacho’s rise has been sudden but it couldn’t have come at a better time for United, with his emergence coinciding with the drop in form by Jadon Sancho and Antony’s injury.

The former Atletico Madrid youth player has almost made himself indispensable and when club football resumes next month, he’s certain to play regularly.

The worry is that his current contract expires at the end of this season and United must act quickly to avoid losing him for nothing. He is free to speak to foreign clubs over a pre-agreement as soon as in January.
