Mauricio Pochettino still interested in United job despite being overlooked in summer

Mauricio Pochettino is still without a job since being sacked by Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. It wasn’t a memorable spell in Paris for the Argentinan, but he was once heavily linked with the Manchester United job and it sounds like he still has interest in taking charge at Old Trafford one day.

To many it will sound disrespectful of Pochettino to talk about jobs at Manchester United and Real Madrid when these clubs already have full-time managers in place. Carlo Ancelotti may be kicking on in terms of age, but he delivered the La Liga and Champions League double last season. Then there is Erik ten Hag who is doing a good job in difficult circumstances at United.

However, Pochettino has hinted that he could be given another shot at the United job in the future.

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager suggested that this summer was not his only opportunity as he was overlooked for Ten Hag. His answer also referenced Real Madrid, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“It’s the moments for it to coincide and for that marriage to happen,” Pochettino told Radio Marca. “Sometimes it’s just a matter of timing. I don’t believe that trains pass just once.”

Stretty News verdict

I don’t think many United fans are thinking about Pochettino. We are all firmly behind Ten Hag and believe United have a bright future under the Dutchman.

The only thing preventing that is the Glazers – and I don’t think Pochettino is a super-manager capable of changing that.
