David Beckham shamelessly defends £150m ambassadorial role ahead of World Cup

It looks like David Beckham has no shame after coming out in defence of his role in promoting the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

From the deaths of migrant workings and discriminative LGBTQ laws to exploitation and corruption, the true cost of the World Cup this winter is devastating.

Beckham could ignorantly argue that he didn’t know about the human rights abuse in Qatar when he signed a 10-year-deal with the country worth £150m, but a new clip showing his true colours is a hard watch for anyone who considers him an icon.

While defending his role and Qatar, Beckham used the line ‘progress, inclusivity and tolerance’ like an ignorant buffoon, pretending as though he hasn’t been made aware of the atrocities in Qatar leading up to this World.

Beckham said: “Qatar dreamed of bringing the World Cup to a place that it had never been before, but that it wouldn’t be enough just to achieve things on the pitch. The pitch would be a platform for progress.”

He added: “Dreams can come true. That is why you are here. You share Generation Amazing’s twin passions for the game of football and for making the world a more tolerant and inclusive place.”

Prepare to cringe over more Beckham promotions over the next month.

Gary Neville is another former United player to come under the spotlight for his role in commentating at the World Cup.

It all kicks off on Sunday when the hosts face Ecuador.

  1. The most important thing,
Does England Team have a Quality to prove in World Cup and be a Champion ?

    We hope so.

  2. If any of the allegations were true then Fifa could have revoked the nomination at any point in time. Why award the honour if there was any doubt
