Victor Osimhen could reportedly be a “more attainable” target for Manchester United as they seek a new forward to bolster their attacking options.

That is according to The Mirror, who also state that the club may be lining up a move for Paris Saint-Germain starlet Kylian Mbappe, however, the deal will certainly be a difficult one to oversee, and a January transfer is not an option.

The search for strikers comes after Cristiano Ronaldo’s “explosive” interview with Piers Morgan, in which the Portugal international detailed his lack of respect for Erik ten Hag, how he feels “betrayed” by the club and that he is being forced out the door at Old Trafford.

Wednesday and Thursday will also likely see tensions rise again in Manchester, as that is when the full interview airs. United have not yet addressed the comments but one thing is all but confirmed – Ronaldo will not pull on the shirt again.

Osimhen a realistic option?

Despite the links with Mbappe, it’s unlikely fans are holding out hope for the World Cup winner to be arriving at Carrington in the summer.

Osimhen would be an incredible signing for the Red Devils. The 23-year-old has been instrumental in Napoli’s outstanding start to the season; they sit first-placed in Serie A and progressed to the Champions League Round of 16 whilst being unbeaten in both competitions. Osimhen netted 10 goals and contributed three assists in the process.

The club are expecting a “multitude of offers for their prolific £60m-rated forward”, which seems like a no-brainer when United are currently relying on an 18-year-old to secure a win at Craven Cottage.
