Manchester United will give their players returning from the World Cup seven days of rest before resuming club action.
The Red Devils have 14 players jetting off to Qatar to represent their national teams at the forthcoming World Cup. They have the second most players in the Premier League leaving their clubs over the international break, behind Manchester City in first with 16.
During the tournament, Erik ten Hag himself will take a break before the Reds play two friendly matches against Cadiz and Real Betis in Spain.
United’s return to competitive football
Competitive club action resumes for United on December 21, due to their progression in the Carabao Cup. They face Burnley at Old Trafford at a late kick-off time of 8 pm.

They then line up against newly-promoted Nottingham Forest on December 27 in their first league match in over six weeks.
According to The Times, Ten Hag will give returning international players a rest, meaning the matchday squads may look vastly different in United’s first few matches back in action.
