Cristiano Ronaldo hits out at Glazer family with ironic criticism

Cristiano Ronaldo has hit out at Manchester United’s owners, the Glazer family, and claims he has never spoken to them.

In an explosive interview with TalkTV presenter Piers Morgan, Ronaldo has accused the Glazers of not caring about Manchester United – which won’t be news to any fan.

Ronaldo stated the obvious when it comes to the Glazers and said the fans are right to oppose them, which they’ve done by protesting for the past 17 years.

Speaking to Morgan, Ronaldo said: “The owners of the club, they don’t care about the club. As you know Manchester is a marketing club.

“They will get money from the marketing and they don’t really care about the sport.”

While we don’t disagree with anything Ronaldo says here, it reeks of populist crap, at a time he is disrespecting the club as well as the fans. There is also irony in the last line of quotes because Ronaldo’s transfer epitomised how United are a marketing club under the Glazers, who put football matters on the long finger.

My point is, by stating the obvious about the Glazers, who Ronaldo strangely had no issues with when he returned (?!), it doesn’t change the fact he has let everyone down on multiple occasions this season.

We want the Glazers out but it’s also time for Ronaldo to pack his bags.

It doesn’t sit well with me how Morgan is drip-feeding snippets of the interview on social media and there’s still a lot more to come from this. I guess that was bound to happen when Ronaldo signed himself to be a victim of tabloid journalism.

*Sigh*
