(Video) Erik ten Hag hails Marcus Rashford after England call-up

Erik ten Hag has become the latest person to praise Marcus Rashford after the 25-year-old was named in England’s 26-man squad for this winter’s World Cup.

Rashford missed the final England camp earlier this season due to injury and there have been question marks over his form since the EURO 2020 final.

But a stellar start to this season means that he has regained his place in Gareth Southgate’s squad and will now be on the plane to Qatar next week.

Speaking ahead of this week’s game against Fulham, United’s last before the five-week break, Ten Hag has hailed Rashford for the progress he has made.

“I think he makes a lot of progress,” Ten Hag told Football Daily, as seen above. “But it started with highly motivation and his energy because he’s happy.

“That’s the first thing I said when I came here. I wanted to see you come into Carrington and you are happy, and you love, you smile.”

Rashford has scored eight goals this season and recently became the latest Red to score 100 goals for the club. He will now be taking part in his fourth major tournament for England, having previously played in two European Championships and the World Cup in 2018.
