Cristiano Ronaldo misses training ahead of Fulham clash

After missing out on Thursday night’s Carabao Cup win over Aston Villa, it appears that Cristiano Ronaldo is still out with illness and won’t be available to face Fulham on Sunday.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Ronaldo was absent from training today while the rest of the squad prepared for their trip to Craven Cottage.

We already knew going into this weekend that most players would have one eye on the forthcoming World Cup, but it sounds like Ronaldo won’t have anything to worry about ahead of what is likely to be his final chance at winning the World Cup.

Prior to Thursday night’s 4-2 win over Villa, the 37-year-old had started each of the last four matches. He has also continued to struggle for form with just three goals to his name so far this season.

Some might say Ronaldo could be reconsidered in the morning but I reckon his mind is firmly on the World Cup after missing training today.

I wouldn’t be shocked if he has played his final game for the club, which may explain why Ten Hag gave him the captain’s armband last weekend.
