Rashford sets objective for Garnacho to flourish at Manchester United

Marcus Rashford was full of praise for Alejandro Garnacho after his two assists against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup on Thursday night.

After a night of two halves, Marcus Rashford spoke highly of Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho and thinks the 18-year-old will score “a lot more goals” as he continues to flourish in the team.

Garnacho became the youngest Manchester United player to register two assists in one match in the 4-2 League Cup win over Aston Villa, a week after scoring his first senior goal against Real Sociedad in the Europa League.

The attacker went into the season on the back of a memorable year, during which he won the FA Youth Cup before getting a call to represent Argentina’s U-20s over the summer. Now he is getting minutes in the first team and appears to be enjoying himself under Erik ten Hag.

Rashford backed Garnacho and thinks has called on the youngster to score more goals.

“He’s full of energy and confidence,” Rashford told MUTV, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

“It’s refreshing to have someone like that on the bench, who can come on and make a big impact. It’s just the start for him. There’s a lot more goals to come.”

Garnacho has the world at his feet but World Cup comes too soon

I know there’s a lot of excitement surrounding Garnacho, but I don’t think it would be a good idea for him to go to the World Cup this year. It would be best for him to maintain his level of fitness and performance at Carrington.

I’m sure the players not going to the World Cup will be given a mini-break before training resumes, but Garnacho should aim to take advantage of his time off while his team-mates are busy burning themselves out in Qatar.
