Manchester United have played Aston Villa twice in the space of five days and after losing the league meeting at Villa Park, they have secured their passage to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a crazy 4-2 win at Old Trafford.
The first half was not pretty but after the interval, the game completely flipped on its head and United came out on top in a turbulent 45 minutes.
Aston Villa took the lead twice but United replied quickly both times before goals from Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay ensured they won the game.
United pressed intensely in the second half and in the end, got what they deserved. Speaking after the game, Erik ten Hag explained why the first meeting between these two sides, the 3-1 loss last weekend, made him mad.
🗣 "I was really mad with the performance on Sunday, because we didn't fight." 😡

“I’m really happy with that resilience and that’s what we need,” he told Football Daily after the game, as seen above.
“We have to show that every game. That’s why I was so disappointed, I was really mad on Sunday with the performance from us because we didn’t fight.
“We didn’t cooperate, sloppy, especially in the defensive discipline and that cannot be. United players always have to show 100% discipline in the defending work.”
United now have just one game remaining before the season is broken by the World Cup. The Reds will make the trip to London to face newly promoted Fulham on Sunday.
