Manchester United’s Facundo Pellistri has received a call-up to represent Uruguay at the forthcoming World Cup.
Diego Alonso evidently has faith in Pellistri to provide for the national team at the tournament as the youngster is yet to play a competitive senior game at club level for United, despite being at the club since 2020.
The 20-year-old has completed two loan spells at Spanish side Deportivo Alaves but has only played for the Red Devils in the Under-21 and Under-23 sides.
He made his full international debut for Uruguay on January 27 and will now feature for the side on one of the biggest stages in world football.
Pellistri to depart United in January
Several reports have confirmed that Pellistri will seek a move away from United following the conclusion of the tournament. It is unconfirmed whether the deal will be permanent or another loan spell.
