Manchester United will be looking to move back into the top four places when they take on Aston Villa at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds go into the game on the back of a 1-1 with Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday night whilst the hosts were defeated 4-0 by Newcastle in the Premier League last weekend.

Marcus Rashford is widely expected to return to the starting eleven to face Villa having come off the bench in Europe midweek whilst Antony could also be involved after missing each of the last two fixtures through injury.

Sitting just one point outside the top four and having secured qualification to the knockout stages in Europe, it’s fair to say that it has been a successful start to Erik ten Hag’s reign at Manchester United. It may have been far from perfect but it’s clear the club are heading in the right direction and in facing Aston Villa on Sunday it provides the Reds another chance to keep the momentum going.

Aston Villa have endured a disappointing season thus far and currently find themselves sitting just above the relegation zone in 17th. Villa do not look themselves this season and only recently parted company with former boss Steven Gerrard. With United in good form, this is a game which Ten Hag will no doubt fancy his chances of taking all three points from.

Villa Park has been a favourite away ground for Manchester United over the years and given Aston Villa’s woes this season I am confident United can get the victory needed here.

Prediction: Aston Villa 1-3 Manchester United
