Casemiro told ESPN reporter Natalie Gedra about life in Manchester and how he has settled in at his new club.

The Brazilian international’s arrival at Manchester United likely came as a surprise to many fans, as the deal was completed within days. The club had not been linked with Casemiro through the summer but Erik ten Hag secured the five-time Champions League winner in the final stages of the transfer window.

It was a while before Casemiro became a regular starter as he took time to adjust to the pace and physicality of the Premier League, having spent the best part of his career in Spain with reigning European champions Real Madrid.

Since Ten Hag has utilised the 30-year-old in the starting 11, United have undoubtedly looked stronger. His strength, vision, passing and work rate in both the defence and attack has made him irreplaceable in the squad.

Casemiro’s comments will be music to fans’ ears

The midfielder has already become a fan favourite amongst the Old Trafford faithful, even more so since his emphatic celebration at Stamford Bridge when his injury-time header secured a point for United, he went straight over to the away fans with his teammates and showed his passion and delight to be a netted his first goal for the club.

Natalie Gedra of ESPN told the Utd Podcast (via Man Utd.com) of a conversation she had with Casemiro following the Chelsea match. She said: “He said to me that his adaption couldn’t be better. He said that since the start, even if he wasn’t playing, the coaching staff was talking to him all the time, talking about the Premier League, talking about the team, making him feel comfortable and the club has been amazing to him, making him feel like a part of all this.

“He is settling in really well and he feels very comfortable on the pitch. I think the language is still something he is probably working on, but he definitely feels comfortable in terms of football and the people around him. He is very happy.

“I was really surprised with how happy he is. There is nothing wrong with Manchester [laughs], absolutely nothing, but he was just so delighted. He was like, ‘you will not believe how happy I am here at Man United’ and after so many years in Madrid, to settle in so quickly is quite surprising.”
