David de Gea admitted he was exhausted after a busy end to Manchester United’s match against West Ham on Sunday.
The Spaniard put in a heroic display between the posts to help United secure all three points – to move within one point adrift of Newcastle in fourth.
De Gea denied Declan Rice with virtually the last kick of the game, as well as an incredible save to prevent a Kurt Zouma header.
Speaking to Sky Sports, De Gea said: “I feel a bit tired. People think goalies don’t get tired but we were suffering at the end. We controlled the game good but it was tough at the end.
“[It’s] a massive win for us,” he continued. “If we want to be in the top places we have to win games like this. I am here to make the saves and help the team.”
"Sometimes people think that goalies never get tired…" 😅

This was the perfect response to being left out of Spain’s 55-man provisional squad for the World Cup. Luis Enrique doesn’t rate De Gea but he has improved many aspects to his game this season.
