Birmingham City manager impressed by phenomenal Hannibal Mejbri

Hannibal Mejbri is proving to be a hit at Birmingham City after being praised by manager John Eustace.

The Manchester United academy star joined the Championship club on loan in the summer and has had a decent run in the team, despite being benched last weekend in the 2-1 defeat to third-place Blackburn Rovers.

Eustace’s side need to improve if they are to get into the play-off positions as they are currently sat 11th in the table, but from a United perspective I am only concerned about Mejbri’s game time, and he is getting a chance to prove himself at Birmingham.

A quick scan through tweets from their fans will show you that Mejbri has got many admirers in the midlands. He’s even watching Peaky Blinders to get used to their Brummie accent!

Mejbri came off the bench against Blackburn but couldn’t inspire a comeback but Eustace has explained that he didn’t start the youngster because he wants to utilise his squad.

Speaking to BirminghamLive, Eustace said: “The way he has played in the last couple of games has been phenomenal. He has broken records for total distance, all that kind of stuff. It was important we also used the squad.

“[Juninho] Bacuna came in today and did well and Hanni came on for that last half hour and was very good.

“I have said it is a squad game, everyone will be used, we are certainly stretched at the moment but it’s important everyone gets that opportunity to play and feel wanted.”
