Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes Manchester United are on their way back to being competitive at the top of the table.

“I have the feeling United are coming back,” Guardiola told reporters, as per BBC Sport.

“Finally United is coming back – I’ve seen it on Thursday [3-0 win over FC Sheriff], and against Chelsea in the first half [1-1 draw last weekend].

“I said I like what I see of United right now. There will be a lot of teams like United fighting. That’s why you have to fight to qualify for the Champions League and fight for the title.”

For starters, I wouldn’t buy too much into what the manager of City has to say about United. Mind games still exist in the game and Guardiola’s comments may just be that – to put pressure on United at a time fans have every right to feel optimistic.

Erik ten Hag and his players need to focus on winning each game to continue our run, with United unbeaten in seven matches since losing against City.

However, Ten Hag has a big job on his hands to get United back to the top. We have not won the Premier League since 2013 and our last trophy came in 2017.

The Dutchman is raising expectations at Old Trafford but the objective this season is to get back into the Champions League. We will be doing well to be in the top four by the time the World Cup starts in three weeks.

Let us know in the comments sections where you think United will finish in the league this season.
