Manchester United are set to offer Alejandro Garnacho a new contract to extend the forward’s stay at the club.
The 18-year-old made his senior start for the Red Devils last night as United saw out a 3-0 win against Sheriff in their penultimate Europa League group game.
According to Samuel Luckhurst of the MEN, the club are “progressing with talks over a new contract” for the Argentinian. His current deal expires in 2025.
Garnacho played a key role in the Reds’ progression and success during their FA Youth Cup campaign, in which he netted seven goals in six games. He scored a brace in the final against Nottingham Forest and celebrated one goal in the fashion of Cristiano Ronaldo, mimicking his iconic ‘Siu’ in front of a packed-out Stretford End.
He has since featured sparingly for United’s first team but had gained the trust of Erik ten Hag heading into last night’s clash, and whilst he was unlucky to not register a goal contribution, he lit up the pitch as he played with confidence and skill, looking a great threat in attack. The teenager was awarded Player of the Match.
