Bruno Fernandes has topped the list of Premier League attackers for his involvement in attacking sequences.

The Portugal international is having a somewhat slow start to the season by his standards and has contributed two goals and two assists in all competitions this season.

In his first full season as a red, Fernandes scored 28 goals and assisted 17 – outstanding numbers for a midfielder.

However, with Fernandes, it’s important to not rely entirely on goal contributions, as his presence on the pitch its invaluable to United. He completely revitalised the team’s attack from the moment he joined and has been irreplaceable in the starting eleven ever since.

His passing ability and vision makes him a constant threat in attack. Fernandes also seemingly never tires, he will run the midfield for an entire 90 minutes, not break a sweat and be named on the team sheet three days later. This season, he has featured in every game for United and accumulated 1,366 minutes of playing time.

Portuguese Magnifico above the rest

A statistic posted by OptaJoe has detailed Fernandes’ significance in attack.

When comparing all Premier League players in all competitions, Fernandes leads the list of attacking sequence involvements. He has the highest number of open play involvements that result in a shot, as well as the highest chances created.

The 28-year-old is above the likes of Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne and Son Heung-Min.

It also shows an area in which numerous people have identified needs to improve for United – finding the end product.
