Paul Scholes and Owen Hargreaves have discussed Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation at Manchester United after returning to the club since facing disciplinary actions from Erik ten Hag.
Ronaldo made headlines for all the wrong reasons last week, just 10 days after hitting a personal milestone of netting his 700th career goal.
During United’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur, the forward refused to feature as a substitute and departed Old Trafford before the full-time whistle.
He was consequently omitted from the United squad to face Chelsea as well as being made to train alone. The situation has, however, been resolved and Ronaldo will start for the Red Devils when they take on Sheriff in the Europa League this evening.
Former Man Utd players weigh in on Ronaldo’s situation
Owen Hargreaves and Paul Scholes have reflected on the situation when talking on BT Sport, Scholes said: “I think it’s been dealt with, I think the manager’s dealt with it really well answering questions – so many questions about it.”
"He's got a World Cup coming up and he's frustrating he's not playing!"

He added: “The right thing has happened. He’s available to play, he’s trained with them this week so, look it’s out the way, it’s done. It’s old news, let them carry on with the game.”
Hargreaves said: “He’s obviously frustrated he’s not playing, he’s got a World Cup coming up, it’s probably going to be his last one. He probably didn’t want to come on for the last two minutes.
“I also think you need to respect everything he’s given to the game. I’m not saying what he did is the right thing, but he’s frustrated. He’s got the World Cup, he’s not playing, he’s watching a game that he loves and I think he believes he can contribute to. He was their top scorer last season so, a lot of frustration.
“He obviously wanted to leave in the summer and that didn’t materialise, and it’s tough for him to sit and watch.”
