(Video) Marcus Rashford names one final area United need to improve

Marcus Rashford has reflected on Manchester United’s 3-0 win against Sheriff in Thursday’s Europa League clash.

The Reds turned over their opponents with ease in the second half but struggled to break the deadlock in the first half hour.

Am unlikely name opened the scoring, Diogo Dalot headed home from a former to put United ahead in the 44th minute.

Substitute Marcus Rashford netted his 99th goal for the club, before Cristiano Ronaldo secured the three points with his 701st career goal.

The Red Devils now have all the work to do when they travel to Spain next week to face Real Sociedad as they aim to finish Group E in first place. To do so, we need to beat Sociedad by two or more goals.

If United finish second they will be forced to compete in the Round of 16 play-offs, where they may face one of the teams that have been demoted from the Champions League, including Juventus, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

Rashford has his say

Post-match Rashford told BT Sport: “When we went 1-0 up, the game opened up more in the second half and we created a lot more chances. We could’ve had a couple more goals.”

Regarding United’s many missed chances, he said: “I think it’s a mix between frustration and just calmness. You have to be calm to keep creating the chances, and then be clinical in taking the chances that you create.”

On being one goal away from 100, Rashford added: “It was just about getting the job done. It will be nice when it does happen, it will be a great achievement for myself and for my family. But, we focus on the next game now and look to win that game.”

Rashford also commented on the team’s progression and development as of late. He said: “I think it’s took a lot of hard work and time to adapt and change. We’re understanding it more and more now. We’re keeping more clean sheets and defending better, we still need to score more goals, but three goals tonight is good for us.”
