Napoli lead race to sign Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo is looking for a new club.

The 37-year-old is having a difficult time coming to terms with his new reduced role at Old Trafford, so it looks like Erik ten Hag will allow Ronaldo to leave in January if his agent can attract enough interest.

Ronaldo will turn 38 in February and next month will play in his last World Cup. He is not the player he was, and Ten Hag has decided to go with different attacking players most week.

According to The Sun, Napoli is the most likely destination for United because the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle are not interested in signing Ronaldo.

A source told the newspaper: “Arsenal and Newcastle realise the quality he would bring in heling them to achieve their ambitions.

“But both clubs worry about the wider impact his arrival could have on the clubs.

“The most likely destination now is Italy. Napoli were interested in Ronaldo over the summer and are still keen.

“Adding him to their squad is a step they believe will help in their aim to remain top of Serie A and to progress through the Champions League.”

Napoli are not doing too bad without someone like Ronaldo up front. On Sunday night, United target Victor Osimhen scored the only goal in a game against AS Roma, despite starting his first game in six weeks.

Is Ronaldo really the answer for any of these teams?
