Erik ten Hag is feeling confident ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Chelsea on Saturday, October 22.
Cristiano Ronaldo will not feature for United after receiving disciplinary actions from Ten Hag after refusing to come off the bench against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday evening. The Portugal international is also training alone over the coming days.
The Red Devils are on the back of an outstanding performance and 2-0 win against Spurs. Bruno Fernandes and Fred secured the three points with their second-half goals, but the entire team dominated the game throughout the full 90 minutes.
So far, three of United’s standout performances of the season have all come at Old Trafford; Liverpool in August, Arsenal in September and Spurs.
Their most significant upsets of the campaign so far have been away from home; a 4-0 loss to Brentford and 6-3 defeat at the Etihad Stadium to rivals Manchester City.
Ten Hag weighs in on home vs away performances
Ten Hag touched on this matter [performing away as well as at home] in this pre-match press conference. He told MUTV: “For me it’s never an issue, away of at home, because the pitch is even big. It’s 11 against 11, there’s a red, so it’s all the same.
“And, also away we always have a lot of support from our fans, so we are really happy with that. We feel strong and we are looking forward to the game tomorrow.”
