Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has praised Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag for how he has dealt with the latest Cristiano Ronaldo drama following Wednesday night’s 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
The Sky Sports pundit insists Ten Hag has handled the Ronaldo situation perfectly, and we couldn’t agree more, with the 37-year-old axed from the first-team squad to face Chelsea.
Ronaldo knew the cameras were on him when he stormed down the tunnel on the 89th minute. The Daily Mail later revealed that he did this after refusing Ten Hag’s instructions to get ready to come off the bench.
The club have since confirmed that Ronaldo will not be included in Ten Hag’s squad to face Chelsea on Saturday.
A short statement released by United on Thursday read: “Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s Premier League game against Chelsea. The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture.”
Now, Carragher has credited Ten Hag with bringing authority to United on and off the pitch. He tweeted:
“After a difficult start ETH had really stamped his authority on #MUFC on & off the pitch. Their performance against Spurs was one of the best of recent years & he has dealt with the Ronaldo situation perfectly since day one.”

Stretty News verdict
Ten Hag has dealt with this the best way possible, and Ronaldo has shown himself up in a big way. How is this supposed to look appealing to other clubs out there that Ronaldo would sign for?
Maybe now he needs to accept that life after United won’t involve the Champions League.
Those days after over for Ronaldo.
