Mason Greenwood granted bail after private hearing

Mason Greenwood will be released from prison and granted bail after a private hearing at Minshull Street Crown Court.

The 21-year-old has been charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The charges date from November 2018 to October 2022.

He was arrested earlier this year following allegations regarding videos and images that circulated online. Greenwood was then, and remains, suspended by Manchester United.

He was then re-arrested on October 15 for allegedly breaching bail conditions and was remanded in custody after a first hearing took place at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on October 17.

The new bail conditions include not contacting any witness in the case including the complainant and to reside at an address on Bow Green Road, Trafford.
