Manchester United predicted line-up vs Tottenham: Eriksen returns to face former club

Manchester United face Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Wednesday, October 19 at a slightly later kick-off time of 8.15 pm.

The match has all the elements of a must-win game for United, as three points could help solidify our place in the top four heading into the World Cup. Securing the position throughout the season, instead of relying on other teams dropping points heading into May, is one way to show positive signs of change for this United squad.

Spurs look strong under Antonio Conte; they sit in third place and have only lost one game all season, which came against league leaders Arsenal. Harry Kane has picked up where he left off last season and has netted nine goals already and the London club have scored nine more goals in the league than United this season, having played only one more game.

United are on the back of a lacklustre stalemate with Newcastle United. The Reds had several chances to kill the game off and came inches away from the back of the net, but were unable to find the end product. Hopefully finishing was on the schedule at Carrington this week.

Injury news:

Anthony Martial remains unavailable to face Spurs after missing yet another game last weekend. The forward has only accumulated 104 minutes on the pitch this season but has contributed two goals and two assists in that short time. He has missed six games so far this season.

Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek are all sidelined. Christian Eriksen returned to training this week after suffering from an illness and will be assessed on the day of the game to determine his involvement.

Spurs will be without £60 million summer signing Richarlison due to a calf injury. Dejan Kulusevski is also a doubt as he recovers from a hamstring injury.
