AC Milan are set to enter contract negotiations today with Rafael Leao and the player’s father over a possible extension and wage increase.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed to The United Stand that United had sent scouts over to Italy to watch the young forward in action for the reigning Serie A champions. He confirmed that Milan have set a release clause of €150 million.
“THEY WANTED €150M…” @FabrizioRomano talks about the links between #mufc and Leao of AC Milan, but believes Milan’s valuation of the player may be more than what United are willing to pay.

Leao is on the back of the best season in his career so far; the 23-year-old won lifted the Serie A in 2021/2022 as well as being named Serie A Most Valuable Player, Serie A Footballer of the Year and finishing 14th in the Ballon d’Or 2022 rankings.
The Italian giants are adamant about extending the Portugal international’s contract, which is set to expire in 2024. According to Sky Sport Italy, they would like to reach an agreement before the World Cup begins in November.
Leao sets huge wage demand ahead of contract talks
Leao is asking the club for a significant pay increase – he is demanding 6-7 million euros a year, which is around three times the amount he currently earns.
Given the interest from sides such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, the Italians may be forced into meeting the player’s demands as the clubs monitoring Leao may be able to offer the player what he wants financially.
