Manchester United are aiming for a third consecutive win at Old Trafford in the Premier League as they welcome Newcastle United to the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Alexander Isak, the Magpies’ big-money signing of the summer, was not going to be fit enough to make their trip to Old Trafford. Jonjo Shelvey, the former Liverpool midfielder, has also been ruled out.

Now, it has been reported that another Newcastle star is set to miss the game – a huge blow to Eddie Howe’s side and that’s Allan Saint-Maximin, who has struggled with a hamstring injury in recent weeks.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who say that Saint-Maximin has aggravated the injury which kept him out for weeks despite returning last weekend.

That means that two of Newcastle’s biggest threats in the final third are going to miss the game against United and that’s certainly a boost for Erik ten Hag’s men, who are looking to make it nine wins from their last 11 games in all competitions.

SN’s verdict…
Newcastle have enjoyed a stellar start to the season – they have only lost one game and that was at Anfield, a stoppage-time winner scored by the home side.

They will be coming into the game high in confidence but the Reds are also in good form and in truth, should dispatch Newcastle ahead of two tricky games against Tottenham and Chelsea.
