Earlier on Saturday, it was revealed that Manchester United player Mason Greenwood had been charged for three crimes after allegations were made against him in January this year.
Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, coercive behaviour and assault and will appear in court for a hearing on Monday, with legal proceedings now officially underway.
Hours after the update was confirmed by Greater Manchester Police, the Old Trafford club have now responded to the situation, confirming that Greenwood will remain suspended by the club.
“Manchester United notes that criminal charges have been brought against Mason Greenwood by the Crown Prosecution Service,” a statement read on Manchester United’s official website.
“He remains suspended by the club, pending the outcome of the judicial process.”
Greenwood remains listed on United’s website under senior players but it is unlikely that there will be another update before the judicial process has been completed.
