Erik ten Hag has praised his players for their “spirit” after his substitution decision have made a crucial impact in recent matches.

The Reds were unable to break the deadlock in normal time before second-half substitute Scott McTominay hit a 93rd-minute strike to win the game on a frustrating night for United.

When talking to Football Daily, he said: “I’m really happy with that, and it tells you something about the spirit in the team, the squad. They understand that it’s not about 11 players, it’s about a squad.”
