Manchester United were able to secure all three points at Old Trafford against Omonia in their Europa League clash on Thursday, October 13.
United were unable to hit the back of the net in normal time in the tightly contested match despite heading into the game as the favourites – by a significant amount.
Omonia fought until the final minute to see out a historic draw for the Greek side in Manchester as their travelling fans sang from the first to the final minute.
A 93rd-minute strike from second half substitute Scott McTominay finally provided the bit of magic the Red Devils needed on the night.
Player ratings: Manchester United 1-0 Omonia
David de Gea – 6/10
Kept relatively quiet throughout but was able to provide when needed. Looked more comfortable passing out from the back.
Diogo Dalot – 7/10
Lively, attacking and promising as always. Dalot continues to improve the more he plays and continues to provide attacking threat down the right-hand side.
Victor Lindelof – 6/10
Still getting used to the new partnership alongside Lisandro Martinez, as well as being back in the side from a lengthy injury at the start of the season.
Lisandro Martinez – 8/10
Solid as always. Reliable, energetic and urges the team forward with his attacking and passing ability. Crucial to the team.
Casemiro – 9/10
Comfortable on the pitch after a slow start to the season. Unfortunate to not score after some impressive strikes.
Fred – 7/10
Always there to press and get involved in the middle of the park. Always there when called upon despite falling out of favour as of late.
Antony – 7/10
Unlucky to not net another goal but continues to impress with his twinkle-toes and pace. Every game adds more experience under his belt and already looks to have secured his place in the starting eleven.
Bruno Fernandes – 8/10
Would play every single game if the manager needed him. Would not stop attacking and keen to ensure United gained more than a point from the match.
Marcus Rashford – 10/10
Confident as ever and looking to prove a point. Omonia’s goalkeeper made things personal with Rashford – five shots on target, no goal. Unlucky.
Cristiano Ronaldo – 7/10
Again, unfortunate to not be on the scoresheet. Two shots on target and a constant presence in the final third.
Scott McTominay – 9/10
Came off the bench to do the only thing the rest of the attackers failed to do all night: score.
Could not agree more 👏
Antony, Rashford and McTominay were the real ones who stood out for me tonight.
