Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has questioned why Jadon Sancho has been unable to replicate his Bundesliga form in England.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, as quoted by the Daily Mail, Ferdinand spoke about Sancho’s struggles. He suggested that the pace in the Premier League could be one of his biggest issues.
Ferdinand said: “That’s [inability to replicate Dortmund form] the concern thing for me.
“If I’m Jadon Sancho, or in Jadon Sancho’s camp, I am looking at ways in which I can unpick his game, his mind, to unearth the Sancho that made him a coveted talent across Europe.
“Is he getting asked to do more defensively so then he hasn’t got the energy when they’ve got [the ball] in transition?”

Even though Sancho started the season well by scoring goals in the first few games, the 22-year-old has looked completely shot in confidence since missing out on a place in the England squad. I don’t think it helps that his best form this season came on the right, however, he was pushed across to the left following Antony’s arrival.
Sancho performed poorly against Manchester City and Omonia Nicosia – and was at fault for conceded goals in both games – before getting dropped for the weekend win over Everton.
I suspect he will be brought back into the team on Thursday night when United take on Omonia again, but Sancho needs to prove himself if he wants to earn a place in Erik ten Hag’s starting eleven most weeks.
